Lets Make Music -

The Ridings Virtual

Folk Group

One of the best reasons for caravanning with The Ridings is that we have made it an opportunity to enjoy making music together. Increasing use of computers has let us communicate more easily, for example this website.  But a computer can also help make music. Thinking about the activities to do with folk music provides the following list:

  1. The need to learn to use and practice an instrument or voice

  2. Find music to play

  3. Find accompaniment for making music

  4. Keep a library of music or tunes

  5. Talk to others about music.

  6. Learn to read music

  7. Learn to write music

  8. Finding music to go with dances.

For every one of the above a computer, with the internet, can help you to start or improve.

The pages of The Ridings Virtual Folk should help you to start using your computer to find music on the Internet and then use your computer to read, write, play, compose, listen to and store music, particularly folk music.
